Chemical Peels in Houston, TX

Medical grade peels that actually do something, customized to your skin.

Not all chemical peels are created equal, and most people’s mental image of a peel doesn’t reflect what a medical-grade treatment actually looks like. You’re not walking out looking like you’ve been sunburned. You’re not necessarily peeling visibly for a week. What you are getting is a controlled exfoliation at a depth a spa-level product can’t reach, using formulations that address specific skin concerns rather than just brightening the surface.

At FACE/FIT, we carry several professional peel lines and match the product and strength to what your skin actually needs. A first-time peel patient with mild sun damage gets something very different from a patient with deeper pigmentation, active acne, or texture concerns. That matching is the difference between a peel that’s pleasant and one that makes a visible difference.

What Chemical Peels Do

Chemical peels use a precisely formulated acid solution to exfoliate the skin at a controlled depth. The solution removes damaged outer layers, which triggers the skin’s natural regeneration process: cell turnover accelerates, collagen production increases, and fresh, healthier skin emerges beneath.

The depth of the peel determines both the results and the recovery. Superficial peels treat the very outermost skin layer with virtually no downtime. Medium-depth peels penetrate further to address more established pigmentation, texture issues, and fine lines, with several days of peeling or flaking. The peels we use at FACE/FIT are predominantly in the superficial to medium-depth range, calibrated to deliver real results without the extended downtime of a deep peel.

Peels Available at FACE/FIT

We carry multiple professional peel lines so we can match the right formula to your specific concerns.

RevePeel A next-generation TCA-based peel that resurfaces the skin while activating a reparative response. RevePeel is particularly effective for fine lines, sun damage, skin texture, and overall radiance. It’s one of our most requested peels because it delivers noticeable improvement with manageable downtime.

Vi Peel The Vi Peel line addresses multiple concerns simultaneously: the original Vi Peel works on tone and texture while Vi Peel Purify targets acne and Vi Peel Precision Plus addresses deeper pigmentation and melasma. The Vi Peel system is known for producing consistent, reliable results across a range of skin tones including darker Fitzpatrick types.

BioRepeel A biostimulating peel that works differently from traditional exfoliating peels. Rather than primarily removing surface cells, BioRepeel stimulates fibroblast activity and collagen synthesis from within while also providing surface exfoliation. It has virtually no downtime and no visible peeling, making it well suited for patients who want active treatment without social downtime.

Which peel is right for you? That depends on your skin type, your specific concerns, your history with peels, and what kind of downtime you can work with. We assess this at your consultation and explain the recommendation clearly before anything is applied.

What Chemical Peels Treat

Medical grade peels address a meaningful range of skin concerns. At FACE/FIT, the most common reasons patients come in for peels include:

Sun damage and hyperpigmentation: Peels are one of the most effective treatments for sunspots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and uneven tone. The Vi Peel Precision Plus in particular is formulated specifically for deeper pigmentation concerns.

Acne and congested skin: Chemical exfoliation clears pore congestion, reduces the bacteria that contribute to breakouts, and helps fade post-acne dark spots. Vi Peel Purify is designed specifically for this.

Texture and pore appearance: Surface roughness, large pores, and the dull flat texture that accumulates from sun exposure and aging respond well to regular peel treatments.

Fine lines: Peels don’t replace volume or relax muscles, but they do improve surface fine lines meaningfully by stimulating collagen and improving skin quality.

Dull or tired-looking skin: Even without a specific concern, a peel provides a level of cellular renewal that topical skincare simply can’t achieve on its own.

What peels don’t treat: Deep wrinkles, skin laxity, and volume loss are better addressed with injectables or device treatments. We’ll tell you if a peel alone won’t get you where you want to go.

What to Expect

Before your appointment: Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, and aggressive skincare for several days beforehand. If you’ve had recent sun exposure or a tan, wait until it fully fades before your peel. Patients on certain prescription medications, particularly isotretinoin, need to pause treatment before peeling.

During the treatment: The peel solution is applied to clean skin and left on for a specified time before neutralization or removal, depending on the formula. Most patients feel a mild tingling or warmth. Stronger peels may cause more significant stinging briefly, which settles quickly. The appointment itself typically takes 30 to 45 minutes.

After your appointment: This varies more by peel type than by any other factor.

BioRepeel has essentially no downtime. Your skin may feel slightly sensitive for a day but there’s no visible peeling or redness.

RevePeel and Vi Peel patients typically experience mild tightness and some surface flaking beginning around day two or three, resolving within five to seven days. The flaking is usually subtle rather than dramatic. Do not pick or force the peeling skin.

All peel patients should avoid direct sun exposure and apply broad-spectrum SPF every day without exception during the healing period. This isn’t optional: freshly peeled skin is significantly more vulnerable to UV damage and sun exposure after a peel can reverse the pigmentation improvement you just achieved.

How many treatments: One peel produces visible improvement. A series of three to four treatments spaced four to six weeks apart produces more significant and sustained results, particularly for pigmentation, acne, and texture. Many patients incorporate peels as part of an ongoing skin maintenance routine.

Pairing Peels With Other Treatments

Chemical peels work particularly well as part of a broader skin treatment plan.

With DiamondGlow: DiamondGlow exfoliates and infuses simultaneously, making it a great complement to a peel series. We typically recommend alternating rather than combining at the same visit.

With medical grade skincare: The results of a peel are significantly extended by supporting the skin with appropriate at-home products, particularly vitamin C, SPF, and barrier-supportive moisturizers. We carry medical grade skincare in-office and can recommend a protocol to maintain your peel results.

With ADVATx laser: For patients with both vascular redness and pigmentation concerns, combining a peel series with ADVATx treatments addresses the full picture more efficiently than either does alone.

With microneedling: Peels address surface-level texture and pigmentation while microneedling works on collagen remodeling at a deeper level. Many patients benefit from alternating both treatments across a skin improvement plan.

Chemical Peels Across Skin Tones

Patients with deeper skin tones (Fitzpatrick types IV through VI) have historically been told to avoid chemical peels due to the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, the darkening that can occur when melanin-rich skin is stressed. This is a real risk with some peel formulations, but it’s not a reason to avoid peels entirely.

The Vi Peel system and BioRepeel are both well-suited for darker skin tones when selected and applied correctly. At FACE/FIT, we see patients of all skin tones and take the additional time to select the appropriate formula and strength for your specific Fitzpatrick type. If we’re not confident a particular peel is appropriate for your skin, we’ll tell you and recommend an alternative.

Chemical Peels Across Skin Tones

Most adults in good general health are suitable candidates for some level of chemical peel. A few situations where we’d recommend waiting or adjusting:

Active eczema, rosacea, or an active breakout in the treatment area needs to fully resolve before peeling. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are contraindications. Recent isotretinoin use requires a waiting period, typically six months after finishing the course. Recent significant sun exposure or a fresh tan means we’d reschedule rather than peel compromised skin.

At your consultation we’ll review your skin history, current skincare, and any medications before recommending a peel and selecting the right formula.
