Laser Hair Removal in Houston, TX

Permanent hair reduction for every skin tone, every body area. Powered by InMode Triton.

Laser hair removal is one of the most cost-effective aesthetic treatments over time. The math is simple: years of razors, waxing appointments, and ingrown hair treatments add up faster than most people realize, and none of it produces permanent results. Laser hair removal does.

At FACE/FIT, we use InMode Triton technology, one of the most advanced laser hair removal platforms available. It combines three wavelengths in a single device to treat every skin tone safely and effectively, including darker Fitzpatrick types that older single-wavelength lasers couldn’t treat without risk. If you’ve been told before that laser hair removal doesn’t work for your skin type, it may be time to revisit that.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser energy is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in the hair shaft and transmitted to the follicle, where the heat damages the follicle’s ability to produce new hair. For the treatment to be effective, the hair needs to be in its active growth phase (anagen), which is why multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart are necessary. Not all follicles are in the same phase at the same time, so a series of treatments ensures each follicle is targeted during its vulnerable window.

The result over a complete treatment series is a significant, long-lasting reduction in hair growth. Most patients achieve 80 to 90 percent reduction after completing their sessions. Some follicles may require occasional maintenance treatments, but the days of daily shaving or monthly waxing are essentially over.

Treatment Areas

Laser hair removal at FACE/FIT can address virtually any area where unwanted hair is present.

Face: Upper lip, chin, sideburns, and full face. Facial hair removal is one of our most popular categories and produces significant quality-of-life improvement for patients who’ve been managing facial hair through other means.

Body: Underarms, arms, legs (full or partial), back, chest, stomach, and shoulders.

Bikini and Brazilian: From a basic bikini line cleanup to a full Brazilian. This area consistently produces some of the highest patient satisfaction because the lifestyle benefit is so immediate and significant.

Specialty areas: Hairline shaping, neck, fingers, toes, and décolletage.

There’s essentially no area where we can’t treat. If you have a specific area in mind that you’re not sure about, ask at your consultation and we’ll give you a direct answer.

Why InMode Triton

Not all laser hair removal technology is equal, and the device used matters significantly for both safety and results, particularly for patients with medium to dark skin tones.

InMode Triton uses three wavelengths: 755nm Alexandrite, 810nm Diode, and 1064nm Nd:YAG. Each wavelength has a different depth of penetration and melanin absorption profile, which means the system can be precisely calibrated to the patient’s skin tone and hair type.

Alexandrite (755nm): Most effective for light skin tones with dark, coarse hair. Highest melanin absorption.

Diode (810nm): The workhorse wavelength for a broad range of skin types. Effective for medium to light skin with various hair types.

Nd:YAG (1064nm): The safest wavelength for darker skin tones. Lowest melanin absorption means significantly less risk of thermal damage to the surrounding skin while still effectively targeting the follicle.

The ability to use these wavelengths in combination or independently, calibrated to your specific skin and hair, is what makes Triton effective and safe across all Fitzpatrick skin types I through VI. This is why patients with deeper skin tones who have been told laser hair removal isn’t for them are often good candidates with the right technology and the right provider.

What to Expect

Session length varies significantly by treatment area. An upper lip takes under five minutes. Full legs take 30 to 45 minutes. Most body areas fall somewhere in between.

Before your appointment: Stop waxing, plucking, and threading at least four weeks before your first session. These methods remove the hair shaft from the follicle, which is what the laser targets. Shaving is fine and actually recommended one to two days before each session. Avoid tanning and self-tanner for two weeks before treatment. The skin should be at its natural pigmentation for treatment to be calibrated correctly.

The sensation: InMode Triton incorporates a cooling mechanism that significantly reduces discomfort. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick snap with warmth. Sensitive areas like the upper lip and bikini line are more noticeable but still manageable for most patients.

Immediately after: Mild redness and some swelling around the treated follicles is normal and resolves within a few hours. The area may feel similar to a mild sunburn. Tiny bumps around follicles are also normal and settle within one to two days.

After care: Avoid direct sun exposure and use SPF on treated areas. No waxing, plucking, or threading between sessions. Shaving between sessions is fine and won’t affect results. Avoid heat (saunas, hot tubs, intense exercise) for 24 hours post-treatment.

The session schedule: Sessions are typically spaced four to six weeks apart for facial areas and six to eight weeks for body areas, to align with the hair growth cycle in each area. The face cycles faster than the legs, which is why different areas have different intervals.

Number of sessions: Most patients complete six to eight sessions for optimal results on most areas. Hormonal areas (chin, upper lip, bikini) often require more sessions because hormonal stimulation continues to activate dormant follicles. Annual maintenance sessions are common for these areas specifically.

Laser Hair Removal Across Skin Tones

Older diode and Alexandrite lasers had significant limitations for patients with Fitzpatrick skin types IV through VI. The high melanin absorption that makes these wavelengths effective for hair removal also meant risk of thermal damage, blistering, and permanent hypopigmentation (lightening) or hyperpigmentation in darker skin. This led to a widespread assumption that laser hair removal simply doesn’t work or isn’t safe for darker skin.

The Nd:YAG 1064nm wavelength changed this. At this wavelength, melanin absorption is lower, which means the laser energy passes through the epidermis more safely while still being effective at the follicle. The InMode Triton’s ability to use Nd:YAG independently or in combination with other wavelengths means patients across all Fitzpatrick types can be treated safely and effectively.

In Houston, where patients come in every skin tone, this matters. We assess your Fitzpatrick type at consultation, calibrate accordingly, and explain exactly what to expect.

Laser Hair Removal vs. Other Methods

Patients often ask how laser hair removal compares to the alternatives. Here’s the honest picture.

Versus shaving: Shaving is cheap per use but adds up significantly over time and produces no lasting results. Stubble, razor burn, and ingrown hairs are daily realities. Laser eliminates all of this progressively across a treatment series.

Versus waxing: Waxing produces smoother results than shaving and lasts longer, but it’s painful, requires hair length to work, causes ingrown hairs, and needs to be repeated indefinitely. Cost over years is significant.

Versus IPL (Intense Pulsed Light): IPL is a broad-spectrum light source, not a true laser. It’s less effective on a per-session basis and has greater restrictions for darker skin tones. Medical-grade laser using multiple calibrated wavelengths produces better results more safely.

Versus electrolysis: Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved permanent hair removal method, treating one follicle at a time with an electrical current. It’s effective but extremely time-consuming for large areas. For small, precise areas like eyebrow shaping or isolated stray hairs, it can complement laser treatment. For any significant body area, laser is faster and comparably effective.

Is Laser Hair Removal Right for You?

Laser hair removal works well for most adults in good general health. A few things that affect candidacy:

Hair color matters. Laser targets melanin in the hair shaft. It’s most effective on dark hair. Light brown hair responds but may require more sessions. Blonde, red, grey, and white hair has insufficient melanin for the laser to target effectively. This is a fundamental limitation of the technology and we’ll be honest with you about your hair color at consultation.

Skin tone affects calibration, not candidacy. Any skin tone from Fitzpatrick I through VI can be treated safely with InMode Triton. The calibration is different for each skin type.

Hormonal factors affect results. Areas where hair growth is hormonally driven (chin, upper lip, bikini) often require ongoing maintenance because hormonal stimulation continues activating new follicles. Patients with PCOS or other hormonal conditions can still achieve meaningful reduction but should expect more sessions and more frequent maintenance.

Pregnancy is a contraindication. We don’t treat during pregnancy. Wait until after you’re done breastfeeding before beginning or resuming treatment.

Recent tanning affects safety. We’ll reschedule rather than treat tanned skin, because active melanin in the epidermis changes how the laser energy distributes and increases the risk of adverse effects.
