ADVATx Laser Treatment in Houston, TX

A dual-wavelength laser that addresses rosacea, redness, acne, and pigmentation with no downtime and no time off required.

ADVATx is one of the more versatile laser platforms we offer, and one of the treatments patients tend to ask about most once they’ve read about it or heard about it from someone else. It combines two laser wavelengths in one device to address a range of skin concerns that would typically require separate treatments, and it does it without the downtime associated with more ablative laser options.

If you want a thorough explanation of the science behind how ADVATx works, we’ve written a detailed guide on our blog that covers the dual-wavelength mechanism, the clinical research, and what to expect from treatment start to finish. This page focuses on what you need to know to decide whether it’s right for your skin and what getting it at FACE/FIT looks like.

What ADVATx Treats

ADVATx is FDA-cleared for 25 skin indications. The concerns we most commonly address with it at FACE/FIT include:

Rosacea and facial redness: The 589nm yellow wavelength targets hemoglobin in blood vessels with precision, reducing the persistent redness and visible capillaries associated with rosacea without damaging surrounding tissue. For patients who’ve tried topical treatments and prescription medications with limited results, ADVATx often produces meaningful improvement where other approaches haven’t.

Vascular lesions: Broken capillaries, telangiectasia (visible spider veins on the face), and venous lakes respond well to the yellow wavelength’s hemoglobin targeting. These can be addressed on the face and on other areas including the legs and chest.

Active acne: The 1319nm infrared wavelength penetrates into the sebaceous glands, reducing oil production and targeting the bacterial environment that contributes to active breakouts. Patients managing persistent acne who are looking for a non-antibiotic approach often find meaningful improvement across a treatment series.

Post-acne redness: The redness and discoloration that lingers after breakouts resolve responds to the vascular targeting wavelength, helping even the skin tone and reduce the inflammation-related redness that can persist for weeks or months.

Pigmentation and sun damage: ADVATx addresses unwanted pigmentation by targeting melanin in affected cells, helping break down sunspots, uneven tone, and certain types of melasma.

Overall skin tone and texture: Regular ADVATx treatments produce cumulative improvement in skin quality, evening tone and improving texture over a treatment series.

Why ADVATx Works Across All Skin Tones

Many laser treatments carry significant risk for patients with medium to deep skin tones (Fitzpatrick types IV through VI) due to the potential for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, the darkening that occurs when melanin-rich skin responds to heat or injury. This has historically excluded a large portion of patients from laser-based skin treatments entirely.

ADVATx is safe and effective across all Fitzpatrick skin types, I through VI. The wavelength combination and precision targeting reduces the thermal energy delivered to the surrounding skin, which significantly lowers the PIH risk that makes other laser platforms unsuitable for darker skin tones.

In Houston, where our patient base reflects genuine racial and ethnic diversity, this matters. Patients who’ve been told by other providers that laser treatments aren’t for them deserve an honest re-evaluation of that assumption.

Treatment Areas

ADVATx can be used on most areas of the body where skin concerns are present. Common treatment areas include:

Face, neck, and décolletage for rosacea, redness, and pigmentation. Arms, shoulders, and chest for vascular lesions and sun damage. Legs for spider veins and vascular concerns. Hands for pigmentation and age spots.

The appropriate treatment areas for your specific concerns will be discussed at your consultation.

What to Expect

An ADVATx session at FACE/FIT takes 20 to 45 minutes depending on the number of areas being treated. No numbing is typically required.

The sensation: Most patients describe ADVATx as a warm snapping feeling, similar to a light rubber band against the skin. The sensation is well tolerated and more comfortable than many patients expect.

Immediately after: Mild redness and some warmth in the treated area is normal for a few hours to a day or two following treatment. Vascular lesions may appear slightly darker immediately after treatment before they begin to fade as the vessel walls break down and clear. This is the expected response, not a complication.

After care: Avoid direct sun exposure, retinoids, and exfoliating products for a few days post-treatment. Daily broad-spectrum SPF is essential, particularly in the weeks following laser treatment when the skin is more photosensitive.

Timeline for results: Many patients notice improvement after their first session. For established rosacea, acne, or pigmentation concerns, a series of three to five sessions spaced three to four weeks apart typically produces the most sustained improvement. Results from collagen stimulation and overall skin quality improvement continue developing in the weeks following each session.

Is ADVATx Right for You?

ADVATx is appropriate for most adults in good general health. The broad Fitzpatrick safety profile makes it accessible to a wider patient population than many laser platforms.

We’d recommend postponing treatment if you have active infections in the treatment area, are pregnant, have taken isotretinoin within the past six months, or have had significant recent sun exposure or a fresh tan. Patients with certain photosensitizing medications should discuss this at consultation.

For rosacea patients specifically: ADVATx addresses the vascular component of rosacea very effectively, but it doesn’t cure rosacea. Maintenance sessions and appropriate skincare are part of the long-term management strategy. We’ll be honest about what to expect and help you build a plan that makes sense.

Pairing ADVATx With Other Treatments

ADVATx works particularly well as part of a broader skin improvement plan.

With chemical peels: For patients managing both pigmentation and textural concerns, alternating ADVATx and peel sessions addresses the vascular and surface layers of the skin more comprehensively than either does alone.

With microneedling: ADVATx handles the redness and vascular component while microneedling stimulates collagen remodeling at the structural level. Many patients see better overall results from combining both.

With medical-grade skincare: Barrier-supportive products and targeted actives between ADVATx sessions extend and protect results. We’ll recommend a home protocol at your consultation.
