Lip Fillers in Houston, TX

Fuller, more defined lips that look like yours, just better.

If you’ve been curious about lip filler but nervous about looking overdone, you’re not alone. It’s the number one concern we hear at consultations, and it’s a completely fair one. Overfilled lips are visible, common, and the direct result of too much product placed without enough consideration for proportion.

Our approach at FACE/FIT is proportion-first, always. We’re looking at the relationship between your upper and lower lip, the shape of your Cupid’s bow, the natural curve of your lip border, and how your lips sit in context with the rest of your face. Enhancement that looks natural is enhancement that respects those relationships rather than overriding them. The goal is lips that look like yours, just more defined, more balanced, and a little fuller if that’s what you’re after.

What Lip Filler Can Do

Lip filler is one of the most versatile injectable treatments because the lips can be addressed in multiple distinct ways depending on what you’re looking for. Not every lip filler appointment is about adding volume; often the most impactful changes are structural.

Volume: Adding fullness to the body of the upper lip, lower lip, or both. We start conservatively; it’s always easier to add than to undo, and a first appointment typically uses less product than patients expect.

Definition: Sharpening the vermilion border (the outline of the lip) and the Cupid’s bow for a more defined, polished appearance even without dramatic size change. This is one of the most common requests from patients who say they don’t want “big” lips. They want their lip shape to read more clearly.

Symmetry: Most lips have some degree of natural asymmetry. Filler placed strategically can bring the two sides into better balance without making the lips look artificially uniform.

Projection: Adding forward projection to lips that appear flat or thin in profile, which changes how the lips read from the side as much as the front.

Perioral lines: Fine lines above the upper lip that appear with movement or at rest respond well to small amounts of filler, smoothing the lip border area and reducing the appearance of lipstick bleeding.

Lip flip: A small amount of neurotoxin (not filler) placed above the upper lip relaxes the muscle slightly so the lip rolls outward, creating the appearance of more fullness without adding any volume. Often done alongside or instead of filler, depending on what the lip needs.

The Approach We Take

Lip filler is one of those treatments where the injector’s aesthetic eye matters as much as their technical skill. Our providers assess your lips in motion and at rest before recommending anything. The shape that looks good in a static photo doesn’t always look right when you’re talking or smiling.

A few principles we always apply:

The golden ratio matters. The ideal lip proportion places the lower lip at roughly 1.5 times the volume of the upper lip. Overloading the upper lip is one of the most common causes of that “done” look. We rarely suggest making the upper lip larger than the lower.

We start with less than you think you need. On a first appointment especially, we use a conservative amount and assess at two weeks before recommending more. This is better for outcomes and better for your confidence in the result.

We factor in the rest of your face. Lips don’t exist in isolation. How they read depends on your chin projection, your nose, your cheek volume. Sometimes patients who think they want bigger lips actually benefit more from chin filler or facial balancing; we’ll have that conversation honestly.

What to Expect

A lip filler appointment at FACE/FIT takes about 30 to 45 minutes. A topical numbing cream is applied 15 to 20 minutes before injection, and the filler itself contains lidocaine, so most patients find the procedure significantly more comfortable than they anticipated.

Immediately after: Your lips will be swollen, sometimes noticeably so. This is completely normal and not your result. The first 48 to 72 hours post-treatment are the puffiest, and the lips often look more dramatic or uneven during this period. Don’t panic and don’t judge the result yet.

The aftercare that matters: Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat (saunas, hot yoga, direct sun), and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours. Don’t massage or apply pressure to the lips. Sleep with your head slightly elevated the first night if you’re prone to swelling. Arnica supplements or arnica gel can help reduce bruising if it occurs.

Day three through seven: Swelling subsides significantly. The filler begins to settle and soften. The result starts to look more like your actual result.

Two weeks out: This is the real result. Some patients want a touch-up at this point, others don’t. We include a follow-up review and address any minor adjustments needed at no additional cost.

How long it lasts: Lip filler typically lasts six to twelve months depending on the product used and how quickly your metabolism breaks it down. The lips are a high-movement area which means filler tends to metabolize faster here than in areas like the cheeks or temples.

Are Lip Fillers Right for You?

Lip filler works well for most adults in good general health who want more volume, definition, symmetry, or projection. There’s no single ideal age. We see patients in their twenties seeking enhancement, patients in their thirties and forties wanting to restore volume they’ve lost, and patients across all age groups with very different goals.

It’s not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for patients with active infections or sores around the mouth; cold sores in particular should be fully resolved before treatment, and patients with a history of cold sores should discuss prophylactic antiviral medication with their provider beforehand.

One expectation to set clearly: if you’ve had lip filler elsewhere and aren’t happy with the current state, we can dissolve it before starting fresh. This is a relatively common scenario and we’d rather start with a clean baseline than add on top of an existing result that isn’t working.
